Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says "But Doctor... I am Pagliacci."
Sad actually. I read somewhere that sometimes the best clowns are the saddest ones.
I'm not really sure why. Maybe it's because they have this gaping hole within, a void that they try to fill through the happiness and laughter of others. Emotional leech? No that's harsh. Maybe a sponge.

Oh, so sad...
But further along the clown despair-o-meter is the scary evil clown. Oh boy, do they freak me out. I think I got nightmares when I was young with heck-a-lotta clowns running around in my head. Brrrr....

This here, is downright sinister.
But at the end of the day; it's happy and funny clowns that save the day. What would we do without the honky red-nosed white faces ever ready with a painted smile?
