What contradictions we are - we the middling people of the (ex) middle of the solar system. We bear not the extremes - of greatness, or depravity/poverty and the like. The great - we dissect. Into fragments for analysis - small ,observable, understandable pieces which allow our reductionist selves to simplify them to normalcy, and pin their achievements to circumstance. The bottom rung beings - we aim to 'correct' and bring in line with the ringfenced herd deep in the societal bowels. We seek conformity, at the expense of even thought. Yet, we detest in ourselves mediocrity. We look down upon those who live within the well, never emerging from the shallow state. We hope to break free, but even in our doings we are bound by societal norms with our fixation on quantifiable success. So is this then what it is to be human? All-too human?
